Job Description: Office Coordinator & Business Support Specialist
Position: Part-Time
Temporary Position: 6–12 Months
Location: SIBA Offices – Seattle & Tukwila
Position Overview
The Somali Independent Business Alliance (SIBA) is seeking an Office Coordinator & Business Support Specialist to provide direct support to small businesses and assist with daily office operations. This role is essential to helping businesses access the tools they need to grow, stay compliant, and remain competitive.
Key Responsibilities
Business Support & Technical Assistance
- Assist entrepreneurs with business legalization, staying compliant and understanding labor standards
- Help write or refine business plans and create resumes.
- Provide marketing support, including social media setup, basic promotion guidance, and improving online presence via Google maps.
- Support with branding tools such as business cards, flyers, and basic promotional materials
- Assist businesses in accessing accounting, bookkeeping, and payroll services through referrals or setup
- Support SIBA workshops, trainings, and group sessions for small business growth
Office & Outreach Support
- Conduct one-on-one outreach to identify and recruit small businesses for support services
- Attend community events, tabling sessions, and outreach activities on behalf of SIBA
- Support daily office operations in both SIBA locations in Seattle and Tukwila
- Assist with organizing digital files, client records, and program documentation
- Help schedule appointments with clients, manage intake forms, and track service delivery
- Provide general administrative support to SIBA staff
- Maintain a welcoming, accessible environment for community members seeking services
Required Qualifications
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Fluency in English and Amharic, Tigrinya or Oromo (fluency in more than two language strongly preferred)
- AA college degree and experience working with small businesses, entrepreneurs, or community-based organizations
- Strong understanding of basic business operations and compliance requirements
- Ability to explain processes clearly to businesses
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Basic computer literacy (email, Google Suite, simple documents, online forms)
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
